Dear Susanne Thank you for sending me your delightful and very interesting article on your travel experience to Israel ! I’m happy that you got to go to Israel and see first hand the lovely city by the Med with all its rich history! Your article was written years before the Genocide when most of us were unaware of the situation there! i know you struggled at the airport with security and even back then it was a uncomfortable situation where people with diffrent passports where treated differently! You got to see all the checkpoints and saw how Palestinans were treated in the apartheid system I traveled with my jewish husband who also was brain washed to think that Israel made the desert bloom and falafel and humus was an Israeli culinary invention . Sadly like most people I was not fully educated about the long suffering of the people of Palestine. It was only after the event of October 7th That I learnt of the Nakba the first Genocide and expulsion of the Palestinian people! I discovered that Israel was illegally formed and built on the blood stained street of the Palestinian land! Its beauty and culture was always there israel did not create it it was just stolen by the European settlers after the second world war ! It was never a jewish land it was stolen and converted in the most violent ways! I got to learn how the palestinans where massacared for nearly 80 years before the current Genocide! I wish i had known this before I would have gone to Gaza instead! I feel know this is sadly now lost! Like you Susanna we where ignorant to the suffering of the true owners of the land! It was only this current Genocide that i have learnt about Palestines true history!I now I make it my mission to educate people and I feel that supporting Palestine I am on the right side of history! Germany must Remember that never again means never again! Whether you are jewish or Arab! ! I lived in Berlin for two years and visited all the memorials to me now this means nothing!?How can Germany be sorry for their horrific history and yet they are fully supporting another Genocide? I will never set foot again in occupied Palestine until Palestine is free!
